![]() | About the Drivetime Sports: Great interviews, strong opinions, sports insight and a few random pop culture references – that’s what listeners find every afternoon with Nate Kreckman and James Merilatt. It’s not your father’s sports talk show! |
![]() | About Nate Kreckman: A 2002graduate of the University of Illinois, Nate originally hails from the thriving metropolis of Wauconda, Ill. There were several scenes shot there in “The Blues Brothers” and the town was once featured on “Rescue911.” After college, Nate headed to Colorado to snowboard and find gainful employment with the résumé gem that impresses CEO's worldwide, a liberal arts degree. After a year of bussing tables at a basement comedy club and risking his life on his snowboard every day despite a lack of health insurance, Nate began pursuing his second bachelor's degree at Metro State while interning at Z560 ESPN Radio on “The PressBox with Tim Neverett and Jim Armstrong.” Nate spent two years at Z560 as a producer and update anchor before station management decided to flip formats to the ratings bonanza known as contemporary Christian music. |
Favorite Team: Chicago Cubs
Favorite Athlete: Ryne Sandberg
Best Interview Subject: A tie between Javon Walker and comedian Ralphie May.
Best Game I Ever Saw in Person: April 16, 2004, the Cubs beat the Reds 11-10 at Wrigley. Sammy Sosa and Moises Alou went back to back in the bottom of the ninth for the walk-off win. A great moment for Cubs fans just six months after Bartman.
TV Show You'd Be Surprised I Watch: “The Real World”
First Job in Sports Media: Producer and update anchor for “The John Fricke Show” on Z560 in Denver.
Worst Job I Ever Had: Target. The only good memory of that place is that they used my picture in orientations when telling new employees how not to dress at work.
Favorite Vacation Destination: Back home at my mom and dad's house
Favorite Movies:
1. “Star Wars” (original trilogy, not that prequel garbage)
2. “Caddyshack”
3. “The Blues Brothers”
4. “Anchorman”
5. “Best in Show”
Favorite TV Shows:
1. “Seinfeld”
2. “Arrested Development” (it's absolutely criminal that this show was cancelled)
3. “The Daily Show”
4. “The Office”
5. “South Park”
Something People Don’t Know About Tim Neverett: I’ve eaten hundreds of media meals with him and never once seen him eat a vegetable.

![]() | About James Merilatt: A native of Colorado, James grew up a fan of the local sports teams. Most notably, however, he was raised in a predominantly orange household, literally becoming a Broncos fan from birth. The day he was born, James’ grandmother placed an orange-and-blue stocking cap on his head and the die was cast; he was hooked on Colorado sports. This passion for the local teams, as well as a marketing degree that had steered him aimlessly into the job market, caused James to partner with his childhood friend, Doug Ottewill, to launch Mile High Sports Magazine in August 2002. Five years later, he ventured from print to radio, becoming a part of the original “Drivetime Sports” afternoon crew. |
Favorite Athlete: John Elway
Best Interview Subject: Ephraim Salaam
Best Game I Ever Saw in Person: The 1992 AFC Divisional Playoff between the Broncos and Oilers. John Elway converted twice on fourth down on the final drive to set-up David Treadwell’s game-winning field goal in the waning seconds.
TV Show You’d Be Surprised I Watch: “The Bachelor.” My wife makes me. I swear.
First Job in Sports Media: Publisher of Mile High Sports Magazine. The best way to get your foot in the door is to start your own company!
Worst Job I Ever Had: Barnes and Noble. Not only did I have to help people find books I had never heard of, but twice per week I had to clean the bathrooms. Urinals aren’t fun!
Favorite Vacation Destination: New York City. There’s not place else like it. I love $15 cocktails!
Favorite Movies:
1. “Fletch”
2. “National Lampoon’s Vacation”
3. “The Shawshank Redemption”
4. “Beverly Hills Cop”
5. “Die Hard”
Favorite TV Shows:
1. “The Office”
2. “Two and a Half Men”
3. “Family Guy” (and I hate cartoons!)
4. “M*A*S*H” (yes, I’m the only one under 60 who likes this classic)
5. “Everybody Loves Raymond”
Best Round of Golf: One that’s free.
