Profession: Professional fitness competitor, commercial actress, model and mommy

You’re a professional bodybuilder, a new mom and a spokesperson for American Furniture Warehouse. When do you ever find time to eat and sleep?
Well, they say when you have a baby you should sleep when they sleep; yeah right! His sleep time is the time I have to do my work from home; I can’t be on the computer when I need to be playing with him or reading to him. When he’s down for the night is when I do my cleaning. With my obsessive compulsiveness, the house must be in order before I go to bed. So that means even though I am getting up at 5:00 a.m. to work out, I will stay up until it’s done. As far as eating, I try to make either quick healthy meals or crockpot lean meat so that my time isn’t at the stove all day.

What’s been the toughest adjustment of being a mom?
The toughest adjustment of being a mom has probably been sleep. He sleeps through the night, but even when he is asleep, I am half awake watching him with those new mommy worries.

What’s the biggest reward?
Besides every moment with him, the biggest reward of being a mom is seeing him doing new things everyday. When he repeats things that I have taught him, and he smiles all day, I feel that I am doing my job educating him and making him feel safe and happy.

Last year, Mile High Sports came out with a fitness issue that featured you. You gave some great tips on fitness and nutrition for pregnant women. Since you’ve had you’re baby, what’s the best tip you can give a woman who wants to stay in shape with kids?
The best tip that I can give a woman who wants to stay in shape with kids is always including your children in your workouts. From the time he was a newborn, I walked with him in the baby backpack carrier; I still do that (just walking with that extra weight is a great workout). Also, once they get old enough to understand, have them do some type of physical activity of their own while you are doing yours; you teach them how to be healthy and unselfishly get your workout in at the same time.

As the longtime spokesperson for AFW, what’s your best “hanging out with Jake Jab’s animals” story?
Well, unfortunately the best story I have is getting peed on by the six-week-old cats during filming. Very memorable. Ha ha.

Who is your favorite Colorado athlete and why?
I am flattered when I hear that I have motivated people, but the athletes who motivate me are all of the Special Olympics and handicapped athletes. When training seems so hard, I definitely get a second wind when I see the courage and determination of these amazing people.

What’s your greatest personal achievement as an athlete?
The fact that I have accomplished everything naturally (drug free), and that I have inspired so many others. I love the emails hearing that I have inspired someone to reach their health goals. That is rewarding. I have always been a natural athlete and for others to know that it’s attainable naturally and to have so many great fans that I have motivated is a great personal achievement in my career.

The Nuggets, the Broncos, the Rockies or the Avs: Which team wins their league’s championship first?
All Colorado teams are great! I obviously love to watch all of the sports, but I’ve always been a hockey fan. So, I’m going to have to say Avs.

What’s coming up in your future? What can Christine Pomponio-Pate fans look forward to?
I am now working on some amazing projects. I just returned from L.A. doing some fitness magazine photo shoots, and have more to do. I also met with some television connections so continue checking out the magazines and keep a lookout for me on the national screen.
